How do online firearm purchases work?

You may purchase firearms online through our website. Firearms are shipped to the licensed FFL dealer you select during checkout—not directly to you. When your firearm arrives, you’ll visit your chosen dealer with a valid government-issued photo ID, complete the required ATF paperwork and background check (where applicable), and take possession of your firearm once all legal requirements have been met.

Do you handle FFL transfers?

Yes. Sturgis Guns handles firearm transfers from valid Federal Firearm Licensees. Please contact us before having a firearm shipped to confirm the process, fees, and required information.

Can I buy a firearm online and have it shipped to Sturgis Guns?

Yes, as long as the firearm is legal for you to own and the transfer is handled properly. The firearm must be shipped to us by the seller or dealer, and the person listed on the order must be the person completing the transfer.

How long does a background check take?

Many background checks are completed quickly, but some may be delayed. Firearms cannot be released until the required paperwork is complete and the background check receives the proper approval.

Can someone else pick up my firearm for me?

No. The person listed on the transfer paperwork must be the person who completes the paperwork and picks up the firearm. Firearms cannot be transferred to another person on your behalf.

Do you offer help for first-time buyers?

Absolutely. We are happy to answer questions, explain options, and help you find something that fits your needs. Our goal is to help you feel confident, not pressured.

Do you sell ammunition and accessories?

Yes. We carry firearms, ammunition, optics, magazines, gun parts, accessories, gear, apparel, and gun care products. Availability may vary, so call the store if you are looking for something specific.

Do you ship firearms directly to customers?

No. Firearms must be shipped to a valid FFL dealer where the required transfer paperwork and background check can be completed.

What if something shows online but I want to confirm availability?

Please call us before making a trip if you are looking for a specific item. We do our best to keep inventory accurate, but availability can change quickly.

What should I bring for a firearm transfer?

Bring a valid government-issued photo ID and any required transfer information. If you are unsure what is needed, call us before stopping in and we will walk you through it.

Do you offer special orders?

Yes, when possible. If you are looking for a specific firearm, optic, part, or accessory, contact us and we can let you know whether it is available through our suppliers.
